Are there any restrictions on who should use a sauna?

Please consult your doctor before using the sauna and/or ice baths—especially if you have any pre-existing medical conditions. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times and require waiver sign-off from their parent/guardian before using the sauna. Infants and toddlers should not use the sauna, even with parental supervision. Women who are pregnant should not use the sauna or ice baths.

How long can I be in the sauna?

Everybody is different, but saunas are typically enjoyed in rounds. The average session consists of 3 rounds with 7-20 minutes intervals in the hot room. The first round will be the most intense as your body adjusts to the high temperatures of the sauna. Come out for a break between rounds. Cool down in the outside weather, dip into the lake, have a cold shower, or drink water then re-enter for round two! Listen to your body and decide when enough is enough then leave the sauna and cool down.

(Not medical/sauna advice: Please consult your doctor prior to use and for suggested hot-room intervals)

Can I put water on the rocks?

Yes, absolutely. Adding water over your sauna rocks produces a wonderful steam and humidifies your sauna session. Generally a couple of splashes of water is enough to create enough steam. Don't dump the water, drizzle it over the rocks, you'll get a better steam. Dumping water can overwhelm the room and your sauna heater.

Always ask your sauna mates before adding water.
